Starting Tuesday, May 26th, Adams County Library will open its doors to the public for limited services on Mondays, Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Fridays, 10 am to 4:30 pm.

As the first part of Adams County Library’s re-opening process, patrons may visit the library in person.

The stacks are closed to the public, but Library card holders can request staff to pull materials from the shelves, have items photocopied or faxed, and do quick internet searches on a public computer.

Space in the library is limited. Patrons are encouraged to wear masks, observe social distancing guidelines, and to keep visits short.

The Library is continuing curbside service.  To set up a pickup, call or email the staff with notice of the items you want. Staff will set up an appointment for pickup.

All checked-out items have been renewed until July 1. They may be returned any time using the book drop at the back door, or inside the library.

Library staff are excited to welcome you back!

The Friends of the Library--Adams County

We are a group dedicated to providing assistance to our local library.  We are an informal and friendly group, not at all intimidating, we promise. Maybe we are a little fanatical about books and reading, but since you clicked on the button for the Friends of the Library, you are probably our kind of person and will fit in fine. Have questions? Please call Margo at 339-7262. She’ll be happy to talk with you.

What We Do

Since our founding in 1990, we have arranged for speakers, written grants, and held events to welcome library employees and to say thank you when they retire. Our funds helped pay for shelving, computers, the microfilm reader, books, art, and furniture when the new library opened in 2004.  Each year we donate money to the Summer Reading Program to be used for performers and prizes for this important library program.  Our big event each year is the Chocolate Affair, held the first Saturday in February.  We just finished our 2020 event, and a lot of fun was has by all. The Friends of the Library purchased the Coffee Maker in the Reading Room, and pay for the supplies. Be sure to enjoy a cup while reading your favorite book or magazine—your 75-cent purchase helps keep our supplies of coffee, sugar, cups, and creamer available.
