Friends of the Library

The 2018 Chocolate Affair is being planned.  Next meeting will be sometime in January, in the Library's Reading Room.  Watch this page for details.  All are welcome!

We are a group dedicated to providing assistance to our local library. Since our founding in 1990, we have arranged for speakers, written grants, and held events to welcome library employees and to say thank you when they retire. Our funds helped pay for shelving, computers, the microfilm reader, books, art, and furniture when the new library opened in 2004.  Each year we donate money to the Summer Reading Program to be used for performers and prizes for this important library program.

The Friends of the Library purchased the Coffee Maker in the Reading Room, and pay for the supplies. Be sure to enjoy a cup while reading your favorite book or magazine—your 75-cent purchase helps keep our supplies of coffee, sugar, cups, and creamer available.

Want to Join Us?

The Friends of the Library meet at the library, usually the second Tuesday night during the months of January, March, May, September, November, and December. Meetings last about an hour, and are held in the Library’s Reading Room.  We are an informal and friendly group, not at all intimidating, we promise. Maybe we are a little fanatical about books and reading, but since you clicked on the button for the Friends of the Library, you are probably our kind of person and will fit in fine. Have questions? Please call Margo at 339-7262. She’ll be happy to talk with you.

The Chocolate Affair and other fund raisers

Our annual fundraiser is the "Chocolate Affair," a craft and candy sale, held the first Saturday in February at the Middle School in Adams. The Friends sponsor a raffle with wonderful prizes—tickets are for sale in advance. There are many vendors at the event, selling everything from jewelry to books to candy and other tasty treats. Lunch is available, prepared and served by the Friends of the Library. If you would like to have a booth at the Chocolate Affair, please contact Margo Beaver--339-7262. A message given to the library staff will also reach us. The Friends also collect register tapes from the Adams Friendship County Market (IGA). If you have register tapes from the AFCM, please put them in the jar on the library desk. We'd appreciate it!  All proceeds from the tapes are used to buy books for the Library.

The Friends receive a donation from Robert Theim of Masonic Lodge #??
